CHRYSLER ENGINES 1922-1998

You do not have to be a chrysler guy and a car nut to love this book. but, it will definitely help. The early engines are interesting as the engineers find innovations we take for granted today. The section on developing the hemi engine for he 1964 Daytona 500 is great. Some of it can be a little dry, after all, this 400 pages on just engines.

No colour pictures but good plan drawings of all engines covered

A very thorough overview of engines built by the Chrysler Corporation up to 1998, so it doesn't cover the more recent engines including the latest Hemi V8s. Bill Weertman worked for Chrysler from about 1947 so he has a lot of first hand knowledge of engine design etc. No colour pictures but good plan drawings of all engines covered. It is what it says on the cover, Chrysler engines, and doesn't have much information on the cars or trucks that the engines powered. Overall, though I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Chrysler L head 6s and 8s, Hemi head V8s-including Dodge and De Soto, polyspherical head V8s, wedge head V8s, slant 6s, Australian Hemi head 6s and later 4 cylinder and V6 engines.

Great book, great resource

Great book, great resource. Not as full of obsessive detail as I would have liked (I was hoping for detailed specs of every model of every engine for every year), but a great book nonetheless. Full of things I never knew, or thought I knew and was wrong about - for example, the Slant Six was inclined to make it shorter in LENGTH, not shorter in HEIGHT ! I never would have guessed that.
A must-buy for MoPar nuts or engine nuts, IMO.
